Bridgeland Complete LANDSCAPE Design
This Bridgeland project was one of the more significant projects we completed in 2022. Our design included a trio of waterfalls, with each one cascading into one main pond area. The rock used in this project was natural stone called rundle rock.
We used various size rocks throughout and flagstone pieces in the waterfalls and streams to get the flow/ sound and look that made the customer happy.
We incorporated substantial boulders for bench seating around the fire pit. The fire pit is entirely custom-made, with each rock cut and installed by us! The flagstone patio was custom cut and installed by hand with a charcoal paver border. Rock Bottom also handles all the softscaping involved in projects. In this case, all plants are picked out and spaced out accordingly to the design. We also installed a section of artificial turf for low maintenance for the customer. The final touch was some black mulch to fill in the rest of the yard. Lighting can play a significant role in the design and functionality of a project. We installed uplighting all along the fence line. We then have put some free-standing path lights along the pathways and waterfalls and custom-placed lights into the pavers and along the path for that extra wow factor !!
WILDWOOD DECK, PATIO, FIRE PIT IN COMPLETE LANDSCAPE DESIGN
This completely landscape design backyard in Wildwood Southwest Calgary has many different elements.
First, it has a massive multi-level deck made of Trex Transcends Spiced Rum composite decking boards. The boards have a hidden fastener system used in their installation. It is a high-performance deck that is low maintenance and comes with a 25-year Trex warranty on fading and stains.
Second, the fire pit seating area consists of Barkman Rosetta series Grand Flagstone patio stone in a pacific grey colour. It resembles natural flagstone but foregoes the hassle and cost of fitting all the different pieces together.
Third, the fire pit itself is a Rosetta series pacific grey Belvedere fire pit. The fire pit ring is made of steel to protect the stone from the heat. It is fire-safe and engineered to withstand the harshest outdoor elements.
Finally, the boulder rock wall to retain the upper tiers is rustic Cranbrook stackable boulders. These consist of a dense, hard grey thick-bedded Wack-Quartzite with tan staining. Native to eastern BC, this material is very resilient to winters.
Rolls of sod from Bluegrass Nursery made up the back lawn. The sod is a blend of native varieties containing 80% bluegrass, 15% creeping red fescue to increase shade and drought tolerance, and 5% perennial rye grass.
SILVERADO ENTIRE PROPERTY LANDSCAPED
This brand-new house in the new community of Silverado in Southeast Calgary did a complete landscape and design of their back yard. Retaining walls and steps are made of Barkman Rosetta series Outcropping wall and irregular steps in a copper canyon colour. These products are much easier to work with than natural stone while still having that natural allure of ancient stone. Each stair has a rugged look but gives you the safety and comfort of a consistent rise. The large patio has Barkman Grand Flagstone installed with a gazebo to provide some shade in this sunny backyard. Natural rustic Cranbrook boulders are used in the water feature along the edges. Sun-loving shrubs and perennials fill in the border of the garden bed. The water feature has multiple waterfalls as it meanders down through the landscape. Montana rainbow rock is used in a dry stream application to enhance the water feature and natural feel. The brown bridge is a Trex Select composite decking in Woodland Brown, connecting the main socializing patio area to a synthetic putting green.
COMPLETE LANDSCAPED DESIGN DECK, PATIO, DRY RIVER BED
A complete landscape design backyard in Northwest Calgary. The decking, skirting, and bridge are all made of Kayu Batu, a dark reddish-brown hardwood. It is as versatile as it is uniquely beautiful. It is resistant to decay, molds, insect attacks, wood shrinkage, and splintering. It can withstand extreme weather conditions is highly durable and sustainable. The paving stone patio has Expocrete grey Holland series pavers. They are simple in form and, with their clean, modular, shape give it numerous ways to lay different patterns. This large patio makes it very easy to have over many guests at one time and entertain outdoors. There is a beautiful array of pink, orange, blue and purple colours in the Montana rainbow rock dry riverbed with rustic Cranbrook boulders. The outdoor fireplace extends your backyard season by bringing you warmth while creating ambiance. It makes your backyard the perfect place to entertain guests, and it keeps those nasty bugs away.
